EA Prop Firms: Validate Indicator Inputs Before Position Arithmetic
An expert adviser can produce a precise number from an incomplete indicator history. Before discussing whether an automated method fits a prop account, check its input series, initialisation and reproducibility. A calculated quantity does not establish method permission.

Save the input history and algorithm version
Record the symbol, bar interval, observation cutoff, ATR period, seed method and missing-data policy. A truncated series can initialise differently from a longer history even when its recent bars look similar. Keep the actual inputs beside the output so the difference can be reproduced.
This site’s existing ATR initialisation resource addresses that specific input problem. Do not describe an unexplained result as a platform error or silently select the version that gives the larger position. Resolve the input question before applying account assumptions.
Audit a fictional quantity calculation
Use a teaching budget of 100 units, a stop-distance multiple of 2 and multiplier 1 unit per price point. With supplied ATR 1.8, distance is 3.6 and the whole-unit quantity floor(100/3.6) is 27. With ATR 2.4, distance is 4.8 and quantity becomes 20.
Those are alternative input scenarios, not two allowed risk limits. The simple model excludes costs, gaps and fill differences; its 100-unit budget is not a provider rule. A valid quantity calculation also needs the actual instrument specification and permitted order increments.
| Input or result | History scenario A | History scenario B |
|---|---|---|
| Supplied ATR | 1.8 | 2.4 |
| Distance at multiple 2 | 3.6 | 4.8 |
| Budget | 100 | 100 |
| Whole-unit quantity | 27 | 20 |
Check automation permission independently
No HashHedge EA integration or blanket automation entitlement has been established here. Read the applicable account terms and method restrictions, and obtain a precise answer for any unresolved method. Software capability should not be presented as permission to circumvent limits.
The optional sponsored link leads to HashHedge’s current information. This worksheet uses no credentials, makes no platform connection and sends no orders. It tests the reproducibility of an input-dependent calculation, not whether an automated strategy will pass.
